ABOUT
Jenni Saslove has been an acting and vocal coach for over three years and has coached 500+ students world wide. She has helped students acquire roles in musicals and plays, receive acceptances into arts schools, get callbacks on Broadway, prepare for upcoming performances, and more. Beyond this, Jenni has assisted students in developing their skills in technique, performance, and confidence.
Jenni has a Master's degree in Teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (within the University of Toronto). She is an Ontario Certified Teacher, qualified to teach Grades 4-12, with specializations in Vocal Music and the Dramatic Arts.
Prior to this, Jenni received a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree majoring in Psychology and minoring in Theatre from Queen's University.
Jenni is also currently the Education & Participation Programs Coordinator at Young People's Theatre in Toronto.
Jenni has over a decade of experience working with children ages 4-18 years old, in positions including (but not limited to): Grade 4 Teacher, Director of Education, Drama/Dance/Voice Teacher, Supervisor of Performing Arts, ELL Teacher, and Princess Performer.
She also has nearly 20 years of experience performing and training in voice, dance (tap, jazz, hip hop, Latin, etc.), acting, as well as putting all three together through musical theatre!
Jenni's favourite onstage credits include: Veronica Sawyer (Heathers: The Musical), Serena (Legally Blonde The Musical), and Ursula (Bye Bye Birdie). She has also performed in other musicals such as Bring it On: The Musical, A Little Night Music, Edges: A Song Cycle, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Grease, etc.
Jenni has conducted research in the arts across several studies. Her undergraduate thesis, "'Showmance': Is Performing Intimacy Associated with Feelings of Intimacy?" was published in the Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality. Her master's research investigated the effects of arts integration on mental health in Ontario middle school classrooms. She has also investigated the effects of music on those with Alzheimer's disease, as well as the prevalence of music in medicine.
Jenni believes that learning can truly be so much fun and she ensures her vocal studio is exciting, engaging, and educational! She believes every student deserves to feel valued, special, safe, and confident. She prioritize differentiated instruction, catering to each individual learner. Jenni promotes equity and inclusion in all elements of her teaching.
